Does the console you own live to your expectations?

In hopes to rid NGG of the Xbox fanboy label, I'll be the first to say...Xbox has not lived up to my expectations. But to be fair, the same can be said for the other 2 consoles as well.

Sure, PDO is the best game I've ever seen, but it's been over a year since Xbox's launch and only one game looks better than DOA3 imo. Why is it that launch games, and games close to the launch, still look better than games today? Look at Rallisport for example. Apex might topple it, but not by much. (Actually, running at a perfect 60fps, I still think Rallisport is king in racing graphics. Apex supposedly runs at 30)

I'm pretty sure it won't be until Halo 2, and Fable comes out that we'll be seeing what the Xbox should have been doing at this point.

Xbox's hard drive...although having custom soundtracks and unlimited saved games is more than enough, I'm still waiting for developers the make use of it. Blink did an okay job of it, but I'm talking about stuff like, new levels. New costumes are just lame.

XBL has been a disappointment up to this point. All the downloadable content is just a selling gimmick so far. I'm just glad that MotoGP was included in the demo, other wise I wouldn't have even bought it.

Other than these minor gripes, Microsoft should be proud of their console. For a first time showing, Xbox proved that it could survive against Sony and Nintendo, and positioning itself comfortably in second is a major accomplishment. When the next generation race heats up again, all 3 consoles will be on even ground, so it'll be a war

Agreed, these reasons are mainly why I still jam on the PC most of the time. Online gaming on the PC is still SO much better then console online gaming, if Xbox could just get on the ball and bust out games like BF1942... XBL would sky rocket IMO.

Why not just buy Dice and say up yours EA?

A lot of sucky games. I rented BladeII and FireBlade last week and didn't like either one.

I have always stated that I would never buy a PS2 yet about 2 weeks ago I bought one. I personally have had bad experiences with sony products over the past 3 years and they always seem to break. Luckily EB offers an outstanding waranty on systems so I figured it was safe to buy one. It took me a few weeks to finally break down and buy it but I am a huge RPG fan and I can't wait for Xenosaga. I bought my PS2 for 3rd party software and everyone knows sony has the best 3rd party support. Gamecube and Dreamcast were my previous systems and I still buy games for both. Just right now Gamecube is lacking on 3rd party support and Dreamcast only gets about 2 or 3 titles every few months. Gamecube and Dreamcast have both lived up to my expectations but PS2 just has the titles over the next few weeks. So far I am pleased with my games for PS2 but I thought technology figured out how to get rid of pixels.

Well I own a cube and xbox and love both, they arnt perfect but they are sweet, hopefully soon a pc too! I have to say that cube has some amazing games, but I like the features of xbox more, cube doesnt have alot of features, just cool games, xbox is catching up in the game area and hopefully live will speed up with later releases. Lets just say I wont EVER buy a game system without good online play.

I own all 4 "next-gen" systems and here's my assessment to this point:

Dreamcast: Perfect! What more could have asked from Sega in the less than 2 years the DC was "alive" awesome sports games, 2 of the best ever RPGs, the system to own for all things fighting, tons of great action games, online gaming, ad infinitum.
Really the Dreamcast will go down as the system with the best library during its short lifespan. Can't say enough for the little white console that could.

PS2: Disappointed. Hardware under-performs, lack of must have games at the beginning, Sony jipping us on the HDD & modem. Handful of great games but for the most part a crappy library. The exception to this all? It's the home of Japanese RPGs & you can play your PSone games on it. ‘Nuff said

Xbox: Very Happy. Awesome hardware, giving gamers all the options they'd want. Great launch titles w/ Halo, DOA3, Project Gotham, etc. Continued excellence with the likes of Morrowind, Rallisport Challenge, MotoGP, Blinx, TJ&E3, Splinter Cell, Shenmue II, Panzer Dragoon Orta, etc. Xbox Live having some kickass games: Unreal, Mech Assault, Ghost Recon, MotoGP, etc. So far Microsoft has done a great job and I love what I see in the horizon for it.

Gamecube: Pleased. I've owned for 2 days now and Metroid Prime kicks ass, Super Smash Bros. is nuts, and Super Mario Sunshine is fun. With the GBA Player coming out in May I'll be buying tons of GBA games to play on my TV as I've been waiting for some time to play all those great GBA games on a TV screen (I hate non back-lit screens). Zelda looks and plays great (demo) and I'm awaiting it come March.

Dreamcast: A+
Xbox: A
Gamecube: B
PS2: C

yup xbox has lived up to my expectiations. sure there have been some droughts but xbox live sparked my interest and im addicted to motogp.

I don't play my xbox much. I recently bought Splinter Cell and played for a week or two and stopped. The only games i played a lot were Amped and THPS4...xbox is awesome but i still prefer playing on the PC

there is nothing that lives up to my expectations. Nothing is good enough for me
