Xbox Is Losing Weight...

Now that Sony is coming out with a PS2 that looks alot like the 13" Monitor (screen)half of my small IBM thinkpad notebook. Do you think Microsoft should think about slimming down there otherwise bulky/20 ton console too? and If they did would you buy it:
a) Even if it was slightly more expensive than the list price it is now?
b) If the price stayed the same $149 ( or whatever the standard price of XBOX is now on the market)
c) Only will consider buying it. If it was at least $20 cheaper than the price it is now.
>>>>>>>>OR<<<<<<<<
d)I will not buy it, because (like myslef) you do not give a damn about how consoles look and how much they weight, because when you're playing games, you're not looking at it, or carring it on your lap or on your shoulder, as long as you have enough muscle to carry it on those odd days and it fits on the shelf of your Ent. centre you're good to go.

Re: Xbox Is Losing Weight...

They really can't slim it down simply because it's a PC with off the shelf parts slighty modified for the Xbox. Open an Xbox and you'll see they've crammed as much as they can and to slim it down would be to get rid of something or use specifically made parts that would be a waste of money to manufacture this late in the process.

Seriously the Xbox is just a mobo/CPU/GPU combo as the base with a DVD-Rom Drive on the left, a Hard Drive on the right, and a powerbase & ethernet card in the back with little space in between or underneath. Not much to reduce unless they get parts from some other company or manufacture custom parts and that seems like a major waste of cash for IMO not much return.

I have friends who have done some serious makovers to there XBOXs' this one Friend I have he bought a small square silver cooking pan from a Chef supplier store for like $1.50 and used that as the base of his Xbox and used the plastic that came with it as the top casing of the Xbox, he didn't exactly take any important parts out of the Xbox ( since he's no techie wiz) but you should see this thing, it's truly a work of art, it is noticably smaller (thighter)than the actuall Xbox, weights less and best of all it functions (works perfectly for a year now) with the sliding dvd drive tray and everything. So if my buddy can trim down the size and weight of an Xbox I'm sure microsoft can do something too. Plus even if the Xbox is essentialy a PC, have you seen smallest P4 2.6Ghtz!?! laptops on the market lately?

Sure but like I said they'd have to use other parts that would cost them more money to strike up new deals to obtain. Really Just the plastic is a little clunky but space-wise inside the Xbox there really isn't any space to subtract.
