Why Hollywood, Why....

While doing press for his new movie Torque, Ice Cube had a few things to say about his prestigious role starring in the sequel to the popular Vin Diesel action flick, XXX, also produced by Torque's Neil Moritz.

"We're still working on the script, but we're going to tailor make it for me," says Cube. "We don't want to copy what Vin did or try to do a movie that's the same thing but rejuvenated. Vin's character came from an X-Games Extreme Sports type of world. I think my character has to come from a totally different world. I'll be a new XXX agent brought in to work for the government. We're going to think of a new story, and we have Lee Tamahori working on the script. The first thing I said to him was that I do not want to make a big blockbuster movie. I want to make a movie that is good and we'll leave that blockbuster talk to everybody else."

He also believed that Samuel L. Jackson will be reprising his role from the first film.

How many more fake targeted at the trendy mtv movie-goer crap will be made.

i concur. i cant stand these crap action movies that somehow make tons of money off idiotic teenagers that think it's cool. wtf

Sadly, a ton more. I don't even think it's the MTV crowed pumping money into these movies... I think the only people that use these films are Circut City workers who need to show off the souround sound systems. Thats all the films are is a test pattern with explosions.

I saw xXx and actually enjoyed it for what it was(Hey it had Rammstein in it to). I guess I was also able to accept it as poking fun at the more traditional James Bond government agent. I don't like it enough to buy it or rent it though.

Making a sequel like that is just a mistake though.

I saw it too cause there was nothing else to do. But it was such a "hey look im pretending to be skater/extreme sports guy/james bond/new age popularity person" type movie. Like it would intentionally set up certain parts so those kids next to you who thought the fast and furious was a hugely engaging cinematic film act like it was the next best classic movie. Though ramstein IS cool ;)
