What would you like to see...

I know it might be a ways off, but concerning Nintendo's next console, what features or what not, would you like to see Nintendo incorparate into it?
We are all aware of Nintendo's mistakes with the cube, so what would you want them to do differently with their next console???

Here is mine:
On line games
a different format for games, other than those mini discs. DVD rom any one?

And we all know how Nintendo is known for making nice controllers. So for their next one, how about something revolutionary?

Re: What would you like to see...

A real type of DVD media. And how about this....get as many Sega exclusive titles as possible. Better still, try to aquire Sammy/ Sega all together. Nintendo might have the $$$, who knows.

Sega seems like a company that is not sure of its future. Maybe if they work with their once foe, together they could take on Sony and Microsoft. I mean, Nintendo and Sega games exclusive to one console? Hell, I'll buy the shit on launch day.
But as it stands, if Nintendo is forced to once again, rely on their games and their games only, they can expect nothing more than a third place finish....and possibly their final run as a hardware company.

About the revolutionary thing....I have no clue what it is. But hopefully it isn't too radical. I mean, even when virtual reality is a norm, or some bizarre thing like that...when it comes right down to it, I still want to sit down in front of my TV, controller in hand, and play old fashioned video games. Going too over the top is a double edged sword.

Re: What would you like to see...

Well, in all honesty, I know why Nintendo decided to use those custom discs. I have a feeling it was two factors. First, not using dvd media cut down on costs of the console, and I guess they thought that they would amke more of a profit if it costs less, and make up fot it in game sales. As it is, both Sony and Micro's consoles cost considerably more, and they are making more profit than the once mighty sega. Secondly, it has always been about control of the media with Nintendo, whether it be those mini discs, or that carts that they used with the 64. It is not dumb for them to be using those discs, they are nearly invincable to piracy. And with the discs, they make more money, cause they sell them to publishers as a bulk price per unit....

As for this revolution, I have not heard much about it. It is just Nintendo making some drastic changes, with a new portable and a new ceo of marketing, or something. to regain their stronghold on the gaming world that they once heild with the snes and the nes....

On www.ign.com, they are talking about some weird arsed gyroscope controller that they are considering. It seems like to much for the gaming world to embrace, at least right now. Remember the Virtual reality headset that Atari was planning for their Jaguar? They had announced it for several months, and then canceled because they could not establish a competive price or market for it....
The gyroscope will probably be nothing than vaporware...

Re: What would you like to see...

Yeah, I think piracy was one of the main factors for their mini discs.

As for that gyroscope thing, whatever it is, it sounds too bizarre, and I don't think enough third party companies are going to buy into it. But I hope I'm wrong, and it ends up being something big. Even though I'm not a huge Nintendo fan, having them around is good for the gaming industry. They have always been about quality and innovation, even though that can hurt them at times.

Overall, I'd rather see something practical, when it comes the their next gen console. Like wireless controllers right out of the box, and hell, wireless hook-ups to the back of the tv. Now that would be cool and practical at the same time.

Re: What would you like to see...

The whole "quality over quantity" phrase is bs...
I may be wrong, but imo, the only decent games for gcn, have been by nintendo, and not third parties...
And I have stated before, on this forum, and in past forums, that this may very well be Nintendo's last stab at this console market. The cube is dead last, and regardless of how much money they have, or how well the gameboy is doing, if they cannot do SOMETHING, then they will lose credibilty in the console market. PERIOD...
It happended with Sega with the Saturn, and I have a feeling that history may very well repeat itself....
I would hate to see that, cause I am a long time Nintendo fan, despite my bashing...

?

That was exactly my point. Nintendo makes quality games, but not a lot of them. No one was talking about third party.

Re: What would you like to see...

Ok. my bad.
Also, I have noticed that the cube lacks any third party "exlcusive titles".
If it had more of them, I am sure it would do much better....
