I ended up selling it for pretty cheap $125, no one offered more and I needed to get rid of it (hardly play it anymore).

This has been my advice to everyone:
1) Come up with a nice unique idea, or a different way to do an old idea.
2) Develop an interactive, interesting and pretty main site.
3) Offer a good forum community with a nice theme etc...

The first point is the most important, because without that why would anyone come here?

And don't forget to freaking update the site!

I would have been all of that... :ctf:

Re: Updating the forum guys....

BTW if you do plan on putting the time money and effort into this site I would say you made a good decision on purchasing this particular domain name.

But as lots of aspiring WebDesigners discover, it requires a lot more than a name to be known.

Re: Updating the forum guys....

Yep...you should have been over here more often..and you would have seen the post a had under your Xbox for sale post.... :D

Well, what do you think of the forum right now?

I understand that....we will see what comes about with the forum in the next couple of weeks...when I get alll the MODS i want on it. We will see were it goes from here.

Re: Updating the forum guys....

I just need you and the other memebers that used to come here, to keep coming back and make this a interesting forum/site to sign up too.

Re: Updating the forum guys....

How much are you willing to pay? The deal with this other guy is up in the air.

I really wanted 175 for it since it comes with everything you would want and more.

Physically it is in great shape except for any unknown entropy problems which may have taken hold (it's a launch system).

As for the forum:

Too broad and doesn't have a niche established yet. You really have to tell me what your focus is before I can help at all.

I like my idea about focusing on the culture of "NextGen", but to pull it off would require lots of style.

Do constant updates on the new developments in gaming, what it means to be a gamer (make comics, video's, etc...).

But like I said, what do YOU want out of the money you spent?

Edit:

Forums alone won't make this a popular site, all you end up getting is a bunch of retards from XBLG, TXB, Spam Forums, and Sonics new site showing up (including me).

Re: Updating the forum guys....

It won't be just a forum...it will have more then what you see here...I just gout it ya know...:D

Re: Updating the forum guys....

$175 for a launch Xbox even with a bunch of games and accesories is way too much. Sorry if I'm butting in but that's a bad deal Shaggy. Buy a fucking refurbished Samsung drive Xbox from EB for 149.99 and get a year's warranty for $15. It's pretty much a no questions asked policy and it's renewable thus you could literally come in 2 years from now if it breaks and replace it with a new reburb. Also if you have a DVD burner look into getting a chip and save yourself a ton of cash. Either way you could do alot better than buying a launch Xbox with extras for $175. The extras might be nice, like a ton of great games, but we all know launch Xboxes turn to crap.

Re: Updating the forum guys....

I'm not going to spell it out for you, but take a look at the domain name you bought.

Next Generation Gamers

What does that mean to you? Why did you buy this site?

I see an opportunity to exploit this new tech-gaming-crave, focusing on the culture of todays gamers and what they like to do. There are lots of aspects to it. Throughout my posts here I've sort of laid some of my ideas out.

Get with your staff and come up with what you want to do, use some of my thoughts if you want.

And if you do go that route and become successful I expect some financial compensation.

;)

Stop shittin' in my taco!

Thus the 175 OBO.

Either way I have a buyer for 125 and I won't have to ship it.

Re: Updating the forum guys....

BTW I don't know how much time all of your staff has (Vicman, Nastyman, Sky, etc...).

Your going to need to sit down with them and find out what they are actually good at (other than being on the internet all day).

Skyfinch has mad graphic and art skill, why not get him doing a comic about gaming? It will take time so you will need to see if he has that time.

I'm not sure what nastyman or vic do well (if anything - I jest I jest).

Re: Updating the forum guys....

Vic....I didn't know it was a launch....and Grendel..thanks for your post..I love to hear from anyone and everyone about this site. I hope to see you posting here more. ;)

Re: Updating the forum guys....

I'll only be posting at night (depending on where that is), right now I'm in school and things should be picking up for me soon.

Re: Updating the forum guys....

I need to sell my ideas for now on.

:D

Re: Updating the forum guys....

lol.....I wouldn't buy them....No money.....good points though..

Re: Updating the forum guys....

I totaly agree with Grendel. Turn over a new leaf. This is NextGenGamers "evolution 2" And I think it's time for a complete change. First and foremost, get new staff, keep the ones who want to actually work here.

And by new staff, I don't mean mods. We have more than enough mods.

Re: Updating the forum guys....

Well frankly, in order to get anywhere your going to have to turn over a new leaf.

Look at skyfinch's registration date.......

....that is how long nothing has been done with the site.

Thats not necessarily a bad thing, you just have to decide what you want out of the site.

Personally when I started OTLLive.com I wanted a site for Xbox Live fans from the OTL at TXB to get together and play. That ended up being amazingly successful up until I had no time for it (time and effort required to keep it fresh and new added up too quickly).
