The wind waker thoughts and opinions thread.

We got it earlier today, and so far it's damn awesome! Those graphics are the shizzy! I just got off the island on the pirate ship to the fortress. I think the biggest diffrence so far is that its SOO much brighter and a lot less dark and dreary than other zelda games, But i'm sure there are some dark dungeons and stuff.

The sound is really cool to, all the classic music is here and alot of new stuff. The animations are damn incredible I might add. The whole world seems to be moving, trees, grass, flowers all sway, and I mean they really move too lol not just a lil' un-noticable leaning. And a really amazing part is the sky, obviously it moves, but instead of being a single image plastered up there that moves across like most games, all the clouds are individual, move at diffrent sppeds and actually change shape as they really would.

About the "cel-shaded" graphics, I really would not consider them cel-shaded, there are no out lines on anything as in jet set radio future. I would consider them "toon style" with all the bright bold colors and unique design, that's the best I could think to classify them as. And I will definitly say they are cooler then the gritty real style used before, but both styles are awesome, I would like to still see a real style zelda some day, but the new style is a totally frsh spin on this franchise, and is used to good effect.

When attackin a enemy and they are killed, the little explosion thing I have seen does seem to be straight on cel-shaded (with outline), and some bits of dust kicked up from walking. Only gripe so far is the c-stick used to control the camera is a bit touchy on the horizontal axis, but that's it lol, finally a game that was released when it was actually done! And I might add there is no fogging.

Sonic, Vicman, or whoever has this post your thoughts, i'd be interested to hear them.

I checked out the bonus disc, ocarina of time looks a bit sharper and the textures aren't as muddy but it's still an eyesore (I hate N64 graphics). Otherwise not much of a difference. so the game is untouched.
Wind Waker plays nicely so far. I've put less than 40 minutes into it due to a stressfull week of school. I'll let you guys know more this weekend. So far though I'm liking what I see. Catching pigs was funny, throwing them in the ocean was even better. LOL

More thoughts:

Now that I have got my ship and can sail around, this game is really amazingly pulled off. I have left one island, sailed miles across the ocean, to another island, docked on shore, walked up the beach into town and into a building with NO LOADING, no fog, no draw in etc. this game is so solidly built it is not even funny. There are tons of neat touchs, night day cycles, storms, monsters in the sea, fish in the water, birds in the air, (including sea gulls that you see when coming up to a island who will really fly around your boat) I might add the sailing is very fun also, raising your sail dirctly into the wind will have you take off like a rocket!
So far I spend most of my time on or around windfall island exploring, that place is so cool, I have hit 2 dungeons so far and am en-route to another. The games story makes alot of references to the OOT also.
