It's SO tiny! I'm going to hump it!

Comparison of the two.

Re: The PS2 New Model

This model has no space for a hardrive, it's the new streamlined budget version:

"While inheriting the basic functions and design philosophy of the current PlayStation 2 (SCPH-50000), the internal architecture has been completely redesigned, resulting in a slimmer and more lightweight design. Internal volume has been reduced by 75%, weight has been halved, and thickness trimmed down to 2.8 cm (thickness of current model is 7.8 cm). Equipped with an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming, the new PlayStation 2 sets new standards in the fusion of design and functionality."

Re: The PS2 New Model

Don't some online game require a harddrive? I thought Final Fantasty Online needed a harddrive, or something like that.

Is Sony preparing for the new playstation, or are they just trying to make the ps2 a COMPLETE PIECE OF CRAP....

Well, it's a business. I'm sure they won't have any problems selling the PS3, but for now, PS2 is still making them a load of cash....so why not? Them sony bastards need to eat too.....and wipe their rectums with hundreds.

Re: The PS2 New Model

There's very few games that require the hard drive, really this won't be that big of a deal not having the hard drive slot. Sony will sell a TON of these because of it's new sleaker/smaller design.

P.S. I don't get Smiley's beef with Sony, How can the PS2 become a piece of crap when it's sold almost 80 million consoles wordwide and this new design will just drive sales even more. As a nintendo fan smiley you'd think not to bash Sony on it's ability to make gobs and gobs money. nintendo could learn alot from the market leader.

Re: The PS2 New Model

This is slightly off topic, but what happened to the PSX thing? It was supposed to be a centerpiece with dvd burner and stuff like that. Haven't heard of it in a while.

And yeah, this PStwo will sell very well. I even expect a lot of PS2 owners it get it maybe for another room in their house.

Re: The PS2 New Model

It's out there but it so expensive it's really for rich ppl.

Re: The PS2 New Model

Well it dosen't look like I will be getting it.

http://ebgames.com/ebx/product/245719.asp

$149.99

If it was dropped to $99 yes, but there isn't enough games I want to play to purchase it at $149.99. I will continue to wait until it gets cheaper, I will probably pick one up when they are in the bargin bin. I almost picked up a N64 the other day for $12 at EB just to play some Mario 64 and Goldeneye. One day I will own all consoles!

Re: The PS2 New Model

Yeah, normally when a company makes a significant change in a consoles' design like this, it has dropped significantly in price....

I already own the regular one, but since it is not working, I might buy this new one...

Vic, I have no problem with ANY company. I am just upset that I have had my ps2 for about three years, without any problem, and no all of a sudden, it seems af if EVERYTHING is going wrong with it at once... My Gamcube has been much more relaible than the ps2, aside from a new laser, that I installed. And my gamcube was used too...

And I do suspect that current ps2 owers will pcik this new model up. Especially since nw models like this usually fetch more in value than the original collectors' wise...

Well, 3 years is pretty good. My friend's ps2 died in a year.

Re: The PS2 New Model

I think, seriously, if they wanted to increase sales and what not. That they should reduce to price a TAD.
It would probably give the gamecube even more of a run then it already has....
Vic, I agree that Sony must be one hell of a competition if they are secure in first. Especially since the problem the ps2 has with reliabilty. From what I have seen in stores, when someone's ps2 breaks, instead of fixing it, they get a new one!

Re: The PS2 New Model

They should reduce, but probably won't. Their old PS2 can outsell Xbox and Gamecube at the same price. That's old ass hardware, and yet, Xbox could only outsell it for 2 months, and Gamecube did so after a big price cut.

PSTwo will sell, and at full price. Sony is smart enough to keep it that way until Microsoft or Nintendo drops their price again. Very smart. They have a console that now costs them a lot less to make, but is selling, and will sell very well at the exact same price. If Microsoft or Nintendo drops, which they should in the next couple months, Sony will just counter.
