The Medallion...

I'm starting to think Jackie Chan is just getting to old to make his movies anymore. I'm a big fan of his but after seeing the Tuxedo i was left in awe at how crappily made it was, Jackie chan's old stereotypical martial arts movies that came straight out from japan/china that were sub titled and dubbed were better then everything recently with the exception "Rush Hour 2".

The Medallion story is entirely to simular to Bullet Proof Monk, and not very original and seems like it's trying to capture the cornyness of old martial arts films but it intentionally is doing it to make the film worse in any of it's good aspects. The story is this: Every some hundred years a kid combines two ancient hong kong medallions and can become immortal and super human to help save the world and/or protect it. Some Black Market Smugglers actually belive the ancient myth and want to capture this and use the power for evil! Surprise Surpise!

Once Jackie Chan and his hotter then normal ex-english-girlfriend get into the mix, he ends up being granted super human powers simular to the matrix and Bullet Proof Monk and what not. The Fight Scenes are the typical chan humor and will entertain you if your a fan and there is alot of humor in the film to keep you watching. After he gets the medallion the fight scenes turn into a crack addict mixture of weird camera like "matrix" stuff that you can barely see what's going on. They build up the fact that he has these super human abilites and the fight scenes during it aren't anywhere on par with what Jet Li did in "The One". They seemed like they were trying to re-innovate it by looking low budget but, half way through the film your wondering why this wasn't called "Bullet Proof Monk the clone" and wondering why the smuggler isn't an evil nazi. After Acquiring his powers you seemed let down and are awaiting some sort of spectical like fight scene or overdone ass kicking seen in other films but it turns into a third rate version of super human speed and cliches, They build it up so much in the previews and the films but you end up being let down.

The movie was alot better then the tuxedo because the plot wasn't too outrageously done. But there wasn't enough of chan and the special effects were a let down, entertaining none the less:

2.9/5 Stars, Entertaining Chan, but not his best, let's hope Rush Hour 3 comes out sometime soon. ;)

LOL, for some reason this reminded me of a preview i saw last night of some kung fu movie about soccer or something :D

(oh yeah, this is a good example of what i was talking about why i wouldnt write many reviews. i would have stayed away from this one entirely 'cause i wasnt interested at all, and therefore, would not write a review about it. if that makes any sense...)
