Science Fiction on the Xbox

It is interesting to note, that while the the lack of role-playing games on the Xbox is about to come to fruition with the likes of Fable, Sudeki, and Jade Empire (not too mention future games such as The Roots, Neverind, and Twilight of Lareleth), there is a not so subtle absence of science fiction-based RPGs. In fact, the only contender so far is Deus Ex: Invisible War.

Advent Rising, while action-oriented has the potential to be just as inviting of depth and storyline (given a chance), but is it an RPG?

What would you like to see in a possible Science Fiction RPG?

A "human" story within an advanced and technological society? A futuristic wasteland ala the "real" world of the Matrix? A futuristic Earth with alien species covering the globe? A steampunk world combining both modernized and medieval?

There needs to be a lot mor RPG. They are the great games to play. So is that true that there might be an ending point to the RPG's??

A Gamer's Design

Title: Genesis (note to self - create better title)

Game Premise - World of the future. Aliens, both friendly and domineering, have discovered Earth, bringing both prosperity and a veritable collection of lifeforms, technology, and viruses. Man, while still the dominant lifeform on the planet, has been met with opposition as these intelligent beings have taken over businesses, politics, and social casts.

Character Creation - Choose to play as either human or a motley crew of alien species, each species has its own problems and beginnings.

Choose to be Human - You wake in a hospital of a major metropolitan city and discover that you are infected with an alien virus with mutangenic properties. While not contagious, the doctors and their supplier (a major corporation) see you as an investment of both research and manipulation. Naturally, your first mission is to escape the hospital in stealth, seeking out a disguise among the local vendors (blood is major source of income on the black market).

While primarily a single-player throughout the game, as a human you will gain temporary teammates, both human and alien, who will guide you along the way. Part of the main quest is discovering the "genesis" of your mutation. While weapons will become available at times, your mutation serves as your main source of defense, which continues to evolve in mysterious ways. Examples of mutation- Level 1 - claw-like appendages. Level 10 - limited flight or jumping ability, perhaps human physic has been warped (skin change, hair loss, teeth elongated). This character, at best, is a timed one. Death is the ultimate level, a tragic ending.

Side quests galore, purchasing semi-cures (which have their own side-effects; think blackmarket mods like Deus Ex). While the ultimate goal is to find the source of the virus, your free to better the world by taking down rival alien gangs, business execs, political favors, etc.

Play as an Alien - depending on the type of alien (soldier, pedestrian/political) your role and origin will change.

Re: Science Fiction on the Xbox

Well we have more Halo coming anyway. Or Star Wars Republic Commando.

I think what I'd really like is to use the Crimson Skies engine to make a Sci-Fi flight combat game. Maybe a Star Wars one. I think using the CS game engine for things like the battle on Hoth would be great.

I'd really like to see RIFTS as a XBox game. It's quite a big Sci-Fi world with some magic in it to.
