PS2 dropping to $99?

Seems that Sony has noticed the huge increase in sales for Nintendo after they dropped their Gamecube to $99. There's noise being made that Sony is going to do the same this November according to this article by Gamecube Advanced: PlayStation 2 Price Drop In Mid-November

I myself question the credibility of this guy's source, but things like this have happened many times where a store manager/employee get's promo material to set up months in advance and before word is leaked to the public. If this is true a lot of people will be buying PS2's like crazy because you gotta believe that this makes it all the easier for parents to get lil Johnny a PS2 for X-mas. Especially when it'll be only $50 more than a PS1. Since I believe that we still have a good 2 years before the next wave of consoles this pretty much would wrap up Sony's dominance, if they hadn't done so already, and increase their marketshare to even greater lengths.

Welp after reading a bit in the gamerfeed forums I found a post that sounds like this is all a bs rumor:

"Hi, my name is Jamie and I work for Target corp. and I wanted to report to you and a couple other websites about what you reported being false. Target actually creates is promotional material two weeks in advance just as well heard about the Gamecube price cut. All of our promotional signs, sales ad's, price cut's, Expect More Pay Less, and Sale signs don't even go out to our stores until Wednesday before we set our ads on Sunday mornings so what you reported is completely impossible. I just thought i'd let you know so you would be informed of the false claim on your website."

O well, if it was true it would have been nice... Sorry to waste everyone's time with the post.

Hopefully MS will follow, I'll get another one if it happens.
