NDL's 3D Graphics Toolkit Being Used in Dragon Empires

NDL, a leading developer of 3D graphics technology for the gaming industry, announced today that its graphics engine toolkit is being used to help develop Dragon Empires, Codemasters' highly anticipated Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game (MMORPG). Currently in development for PC, Dragon Empires has already built a hugely successful online community as over 90,000 applications from online gamers all over the world hope to serve as beta testers for the game.

Dragon Empires presents a fantasy world where magic is plentiful and the lives of humans and dragons intertwine. The world will be filled with embattled clans, each striving to prove their superiority in head-to-head group combat, as they aim to take political and economic control of the game's 50 magnificent cities. The game combines a state of the art graphics engine with enriched details, making this MMORPG an exceptionally interactive experience. Uniquely, Dragon Empires contains a full weather model over gorgeous terrain resulting in tropical rainstorms, lightning, thunder, wind and snow.

"NDL's 3D graphics toolkit allows us to quickly and efficiently add new objects and graphical features into the game environment," said Ted Carron, Producer of Dragon Empires. "Because of this, our development team has been able to spend more time creating an environment that is both unique and compelling. After a tremendous amount of planning and implementation, we have created a universe unlike anything else online today."

Dragon Empires will contain a variety of features including player-controlled towns and cities, an engaging political system based around supporting friendly clans and undermining your enemies, and a detailed economic model where prices (and profits) fluctuate according to player actions. The game also contains a full clan system with message boards, ranks, titles and crests.

"The Codemasters team is developing an amazingly realistic online environment," said John Austin, President of NDL. "The latest screenshots of Dragon Empires look fantastic and we are very excited to be a contributor to this project."
