Lost in Translation

While I was checking the movie listings for Kill Bill I happened to see this movie about Japan with Bill Murray listed. The premise seemed kind of interesting so I decided to check it out.

The movie is really low on story or any real plot. It's really about as basic as it gets. It simply introduces a handfull of of American travelers, focusing on two in particular, and you get to follow them as they're thrust into another culture. Bill Murray plays an American actor who accepts an offer to do some advertising in Japan. The other main character played by a Scarlett Johansson is only in Tokyo as a tag-a-long with her Photographer husband while he's there on business.

The movie is aptly named because they both seem lost as they try to find their way through Tokyo and deal with the accent and language barrier. There are no subtitles provided either. Although Murray is in it do not expect it to be a standard comedy.

Personally I did find the movie interesting just for seeing a lot of a different culture and as I said you basically get to follow the American travelers and experience Tokyo through them. The two travelers become acquainted because culturally they can relate to eachother and they get to know eachother a bit as they make their way through a foreign city.
