With an ancient spell broken and the Troll King Thorn back to blight the kingdom with his dark army and darker ambitions, young elf Kameo - gifted with the rarest of talents but cursed by her family's involvement in Thorn's release - finds she has a dramatic and challenging role to play in events to come.

Guided by the age-old wisdom of the Mystic, Kameo sets out on a path which winds inexorably towards a confrontation with Thorn himself, knowing that along the way she must tackle other matters such as the deliverance of three Elemental Ancestors whose powers have been seized by the Dark King. It won't be an easy road, but our heroine has the crucial advantage of her inherited talents: talents which must be honed to their maximum capacity as she makes her way through a world bursting with strange life and breathtaking sights. Though she is young and her powers relatively untested in the wild world beyond the castle, Kameo has the determination and resourcefulness to see this quest through to its all-important end.

With ten Elemental warrior companions to rescue and command, each with their own very different abilities, Kameo can build up an impressive arsenal as she travels towards the distant shadow of the Troll Castle. At the heart of her powers is the ability to actually morph into the physical forms of these warriors, using their individual strengths to overcome Thorn's Trolls and other enemies, and to find a way through all manner of environmental hazards. Each warrior is backed by a specific element and its own distinct natural resources, with each new form changing the gameplay considerably: progress is a matter of deciding which to adopt in times of trouble...

One of Rare's flagship Xbox projects, Kameo: Elements of Power continues to advance and evolve, going from strength to strength with the support of a team dedicated to realising its fullest potential. Very much an action-adventure at heart (with a liberal helping of RPG, platforming and puzzle-solving), its ambitious design is brought to life with glorious visuals and a suitably sweeping soundtrack, all in true Rare style. With a strong focus on the exploration of vivid fantasy locales and the fast-paced combat possibilities that come from mastering all the skills at Kameo's disposal, this is a timeless epic that definitely has what it takes to enrapture adventurers of all ages.

Re: kameo

I'm not quite sure what to make of this game anymore. Initially, they were going for a Pokemon-influenced world where Kameo would collect monsters and train them to fight. Now it seems to have morphed into a shapeshifting fairy platforming game.

I have a feeling this game is gone fall hard in sales and then follow up with an immediate drop in price. It may end up being as enjoyable as Grabbed by the Ghoulies but since most won't understand it as first, it will hurt sales. Another $19.99 classic like Beyond Good and Evil?

Re: kameo

A sleeper hit would mean it would sell but was under the radar because most ppl never heard of it, LordGrimm is explaining more along the lines of a great game that doesn't sell due to an unconventional or wacky style, premise, or interface. It'll be appreciated by the critics but ignored by the masses, thus not selling very well. A game like Otogi comes to mind.

Re: kameo

Do you know what HDTV modes this supports? Since I got Sphinx the other night and have been playing it in 720p I don't ever want to play anything but 720p or higher. I'm amazed that the game looks better then the screen shots.

Re: kameo

What TV do you have Nasty? give me a link if you can or the actual name and model number.

Re: kameo

Awesome, I was considered getting a widescreen hdtv but I didn't like that it's not good for regular TV watching because the 4:3 could burn black bars on the sides of the 16:9 screen, unless you put it in "streched" full screen mode.

Well that TV has a number of different modes.

It does:

4:3
4:3 Zoomed
16:9 Zoomed
Cinerama
16:9

I watch everything stretched, but when in "Cinerama" mode it makes everything pretty proportionate so almost all my channels are set in that mode. (you really only notice the stretch in 16:9 or if you keep flipping back from 4:3 to a wide mode, but once you put it in a wide mode and wait about 15 minutes you forget what it originally looked like in the first place.

Also the burn in with the black bars is true, but you are looking at having those black bars sit there for about a week non stop before anything happens and it isn't even really going to be noticeable so you really don't have a problem at all. Plus that TV doesn’t use the side black bars; it uses light grey ones so that there is less contrast which equals less chance of burn in. It also does the double sided PIP so one show is on one side of the TV and another program or device is on the other.

I ordered VOOM satellite service for the TV as well it's 49$ a month with a 0$ installation fee and has over 30 HD channels and most come in 1080i 16:9 plus the normal channels most satellite services offer. I read today that the FCC passed a ruling that all broadcasts must be HD by 2006, so everyone is going to have to get an HDTV sooner or later anyway... or use a set top box with there shitty normal TV like in the early days of cable.

It's a really good TV for the price, I was very suprised that RCA would make such a great TV for such a low price... I expected to see APEX or SANYO on the front of the thing. My friend also owns it and loves it, but his is a little older then mine and has the black bars instead of the light grey ones, so make sure you check it out in the store and make sure they are not black if that is something you are REALLY worried about (I wouldn't be, it's not a giant problem.)

Inputs on it: (Just for a heads up)

1 DVI
2 Component Connections
3 S-Video Connections
3 A/V Connections (And 2 out.)
2 outside speaker hookups (Left & Right)
Outside Subwoofer hook up. (You can use the sub built in the TV with your souround sound system instead of having an external sub laying around.)

Re: kameo

This sounds like one I saw at Circuit City when I was shopping for a big screen TV and from what I read the black bars didn't do damage because they weren't actually being projected like the the grey bars are. Also don't you have to have an HDTV receiver even if your TV is HDTV? Nonetheless it sounds very cool but when did you get rich all of a sudden? You couldn't even pay bills a few months ago!

The one my buddy got he got a circut city, it's the same price at both Wal-Mart and circut city. Yeah you need a receiver to get the HD for now, but any company you get your cable through that offers HD will be giving you the box. Like if you get digital cable they give you the box and the same with all satillite companys. But the older non-HDTV ready TV's get an extra box to filter the HD content into something they can handle (besides voom, they include that extra box as a little add on thingy in the back instead of a totally seprate piece.)

I didn't get all rich, I'm still broke as hell and I should have spent that money on my CC bills. My mom had taken out a CD for me when I was younger and forgot all about it... so needless to say it popped back up one day and she cashed it and sent me the loot.
