I'm a busy little beaver!

Tommorow morning i'm headed out to hand out applications I filled out, I have 8 now ready to go!

So far I turned in I think 8 and have done 4 online, so by tommorow i'll have upwards of 20 apps turned in, plus, I plan to stop and get more and fill out on location. Some place better bite soon! I get my license next month and need money for insurance and a car! Plus I need to fund cd's and my shooting sports! And learn to fly yo wurd to dat home-skillet-richard.

dude ill give you some advice.... YOU call THEM. they like to see determination. you need to show that you want that job more than the other 50 people that turned in applications. be persistent (but not annoying) and try to get an interview. when you show up for the interview, dress nicely (but not too nice) and have good hygiene if you want to impress them.

Well, i'll se about calling them, I heard that's a good thing to do, but i'm a shy wimp. I now have OVER 20 apps turned in and about 10 more to fill out and take back, 30 apps, THIRTY APPS!

I'm supposed to call dick's tommorow and talk to the manager about the app I turned in today there, that's what the girl at the counter told me.

And when I said Dick's I meant Dicks sporting goods.

*burrows into pile of pillows to protect self from flaming*

So far i'm starting to get desperate, I actually turned in a app to wendy's, god help me.

If I call some places what do I ask? To speak with the manager and ask them what? When should I call?

call them, ask to speak with a manager. explain that you recently turned in an application and ask if there was a time they'd be available to set up an interview (trust me they'll like this). when you go in for the interview, A LOT of their opinion will be based on first impressions. dress cleanly, etc. look them in the eyes when you talk to them and be friendly. especially if the job requires a lot of customer interaction, it's imperative that you can look people in the eye when you talk to them (This might seem hard if you're shy but you have to do it. they wont take you seriously if you mumble and stare at the floor the whole time). shake their hand, say thank you and smile before leaving, etc. . just your basic suck up stuff to get the job.

as far as when to call, it doesnt really matter as long as it's during the store's hours.

I stare people in the eyes all the time. I unintentionally intimidate ppl like that alot. I used to work at not staring at ppl's eyes when I was a teen so I'd not make ppl unconfortable.

yeah a lot of people have problems with staring people in the eyes. if you do it too much, it can make people uncomfortable. just look at them in the eye when speaking to them, and at subtle points during the conversation look away so it's not like you're staring at them to the point of it being weird. but hey, if you can teach yourself to look people in the eye, it's a great quality to have. it makes you look confident and assertive, and is especially important when talking to girls. after all, you dont want to be nervously looking around while talking to them. why do you think girls are always attracted to the confident guys? they like it when you're confident, secure, and sure of yourself.

Currently i'm working on apps for 2 retail distribution centers near me, elder-beermans (sp?) and Morris home furnishings.

That'd rock my sox to get a job there as a forklift operater, i'd make like twice as much as I would at a grocery store or whatever. Course I have no training with forklifts, course that's why they probably train ppl.

Warehouses expect you to have experience w/ forklifts before hiring you, that's why there are places that train you to drive a forklift for a fee. Sure a few warehouses will train you a bit and might even pay your fee to attend a place for a couple of weeks but not many do.

Well, I now have OVER 30 applications turned in! THIRTY! My god that's alot!

So far I think I may get lucky at elder-beermans, I turned in my app and they had me go in to the offices and take the test and survey crap, I think I did really good on the test even though it was all math crap and i'm a dumbass. Also I have a good feeling about Blimpie subs and Wendy's, even though I would hate to work there if I get a offer i'm taking it. I'll pray elder-beerman's wants a interview. ;)
