I finally bought a portable MP3 PLAYER!!

I bought the Archos Studio 20 from Best Buy. It can hold up to 20 Gigs of music or if you want to you can use it as portable storage for any files you want. You can interface with it as if it were just another portable drive under My Computer and organize you music files(attaches via USB port) or just use the software pack that comes with it. I usually use the software first for label the ripped CD and tranfering the files then I do the reorganizing with My Computer. After moving music on it I've placed each band in their own file directory. After creating custom playlist files for each band I've done the same with those to.

It has a very good recharchable battery that can last up to 10 hours on a full charge or just run off the power adapter. It comes with a very odd looking set of headphones but they're actually quite sturdy and sound good. I'd prefer them over the really small ones that I guess come with most players.

The only gripe I have so far is the manual was very poorly written. After finally getting setup and getting used to using this machine though I like it alot. It's great to take along for a walk and since it has a line out option I'm using it to plug into part of the speaker system in my work area and blast my music all night long.

Finally the cost. The one I found was a returned unit so I got it for $200 and saved $70 off the original Best Buy price. I think that is about half what some of the iPods are going for.

It's not really that big. It's practically pocket sized.

....and no I don't think those pads qualify as emergency floatation device of somekind.

I have seen it in stores and it's not that big, but the designers sure made it look weird... Those things look almost like they are to protect it in a fall or something, but I dont think they are for that.

Yeah the Swiss should design an MP3 player that includes a screw driver, tooth pick, and a bottle openner.

Damn, that's a lot of memory.

And it's always good to have an adpater, cause the mp3 player I have eats the battery life in about 2 hours. Might be the crappy radio shack rechargeables I'm using though.
