Hmm, I think...

...I want to build a barebones system as well...

All I need is a Mobo, CPU, GPU, Memory...

I have a Good sound card HD and CD/dvd player....

How much would I be looking to spend.

I think I would also need some fans, power supply, and what else?

Someone want to price this stuff for me and put together a nice kicking system for no more than $800?

grendel i just bought a kick ass system for 700, as soon as i figure out how to put it together ;)

these were taken from www.googlegear.com

$402.00 - barebones: amd athlon xp 2600+ processor. 512 MB ddr ram. asus a7n8x mobo. case. PRICE BEFORE SHIPPING (shipping: for me it was 46 dollars ups ground).

$88.00 - hard drive: western digital 80 gig with 8 MB buffer. FREE SHIPPING

these were taken from www.newegg.com

$127.00 - video card: MSI geforce4 ti4200. it's about equal to an xbox's graphics. as far as vid cards, it's not nearly top of the line, which will cost you 350+, but it can handle pretty much all current games decently. PRICE AFTER SHIPPING.

$41.00 - cdrw: samsung 52x24x52. got great reviews, and is apparently extremely quiet. PRICE AFTER SHIPPING.

total it ran 700 dollars, or maybe it was 710, i dont remember. but if you already have the cdrw and hard drive, then you can save quite a bit of money on that. the rest is everything you'll need. oh and by the way, prices on googlegear and newegg tend to fluctuate, especially googlegear. one week the barebones will be 402, the next week it will be 414 (which it is currently). i dont know if that small amount of money matters to you, but i bet if you give it a week or two the price will go back down. that seems to be the general trend as ive been watching it...

and if you're interested in any of that stuff but cant find it on googlegear or something, i can give you links to it.
