Genesis VS. SNES

Which console ruled your 16 bit gaming days?

SNES with Mario, Metroid, Zelda, Donkey Kong, Final Fantasy, Chrono Trigger, and all the Japanese RPGs

Or

Genesis with Sonic, Streets of Rage, Golden Axe, Shinobi, Phantasy Star, Shining Force, Gunstar Heroes, and all the Sports/Arcade games

For me it was the Genesis. I was and still am a very big Sports and Arcade gamer. I love fighting, side scrolling, beat 'em up type of games and the Genesis had them in spades! :D

I've learned to appreciate all the great games that the SNES had nowadays, but back in the day the Genesis was my main console.

P.S. I left "Other" for those who called the Turbo Grafx 16 their home.

Genesis, I remember fighting with friends about which system MK2 looked better one, they would say things like "It looks better on the SNES!" then I would say someting like "Yeah but it's faster on the Genesis!"

I remember that argument. I HATED playing sports games on the SNES because they played so choppy and slow.

All my friends were Nintendo kids, I went the way of Sega :p After Sega introduced me to videogames on the GameGear I was destined to be a Sega fan! I got it also because I loved the old school Sonic cartoon on Sci-Fi back in the day, like so old I only remember the intro song and that's it lol.

I loved the SNES as well but all my friends had it so no need for one. I too was the only one with a GameGear, and with a Saturn. By the time DC was about to come out, over the years I had obviously warped my friends minds so they all went Sega at DC time :p SEGA fo Life

You didn't play games on the Genesis or Sega CD? I had a GameGear too, pretty sweet, but gaming on the Nomad (Handheld Genesis) was like a dream. Too bad I didn't own one and my friend who had it only let me borrow it from time to time.

None, as much as i love sega, SNES had ton's of RPG's and i spent ages playing The Legend of Zelda: A link to the past and Super Mario World, but other then that it was just genesis ports. And i loved the Genesis cause it had the cooler version of Mario(Sonic of course). I remember preferring it because it was so insanely fast and not slow like mario, and Golden Axe=countless hours of fun and making fun of the hot chick who shoots fire!

Lol I remember that game, I would always make my friends be the dwarf with the axe. I remember some lvl where you were on like a flying turtle, or eagle..?

Yea every stage had a couple of enemies who would ride around on an animal and when you knocked them off you could mount the animal and do more damage.

Holy crap i've been violated!

On-topic: has anyone ever played Sewer Shark for Sega CD and figured out WTF the object/story of that game was? i could never beat it.

Sounds like Ecco the Dolphin, I could never figure out the object of that game but I loved to swim :D I would talk to myself while playing that game "Okay boys [other dophins] follow me before the usual sharks come by and see us. Quick get some speed Ecco and jump over to the safe haven across those rocks! Oh no, a jellyfish. Damn!"

It was great, I love that game, even for DC

Definitely the sega genisis. I was the outcast back then though, everyone told me to shove it and my sega ways :(

Genesis. Only game I played on my SNES was mario which I never really liked.

Always loved Golden Axe

I loved playing SOR with my friends back in the day. We used to sit for hours completing that game over and over and over. Same with golden axe.
