Dog Soldiers(DVD Review)
Awhile back i posted an asked if anyone had seen this movie, an no one said they had seen it and by looking at the box it looked interesting and i finally got to borrow it from a friend of mine.
I'm not sure of the original release date but it's not old. Anyway's on the box they claimed it was the next best thing since "The Evil Dead" Movies. And that it was like jaws, aliens, and predator, mixed together. So i had to see if it lived up to it or not. The images on the back of the box showed some soldiers fighting a 8 foot tall Werewolf so i figured it had to be ok.
The story of the movie starts out as some british soldiers are dispatched into some war games in Scotland(practicing military stuff, not a real war or anything like that). And when they reach the other team's base, it seems that someone or something tore the living hell out of the other Army team they were supposed to be fighting against, which is of course the Werewolves.
Thus they actually have to start using real ammo and are fighting seriously strong opponents and the werewolves aren't stupid.
As far as the mythology goes it's the same as in most, if you get scratched by one you will heal faster and eventually become one, and the werewolves are hungry and want to eat human's, and Silver is what harms them the most, which isn't exactly in high supply in the military's item's of weaponry.
The movie was alot better then i had expected it to be, all of the cast is british but they have ton's of humor even in extremely messed up situations simular to evil dead but not pure comedy. The Werewolves are like 8 feet tall and tower over the enemies and aren't in CGI, there done in suits which IMO is better, the movie has a great surpise ending and a couple twist's in-between. The gore is there too, blood flying everywhere and werewolves slurping on human corpses. So if you like crazy british people trying to box a 8 foot werewolf this movie rocks.
5 out of 5 star's, this movie is like an american werewolf in london, mixed with evil dead style humor, and some army survival tactics throw in the mix. Great Horror movie, these are the type of movies that never get recognition and should.
