Dead of Winter (landscape)

A simple Vue D'Esprit render tweaked in Photoshop.

(Note: I'm going to try participating more in this forum again. I haven't done many graphics in a while because I got frustrated with some compatibility issues when I tried to use to many programs. I've also been a little burned out from work  )

That looks coool (pun intended) Was that actually contructed out of polygons if so, is there a way to show the wireframe?

Also, great to see you posting art again. Hope you solve all the compatibility issues.

With the compatibility issues, I was trying to create a character in Poser and build weapons and armor for it in TrueSpace. What a pain in the ass that turned out to be. After some work I got the sword and some shoulder armor on but the helmet kept coming through all screwed up and deformed.

As for the landscape, I deleted the original model already but it was just a basic mass of polygons that formed a mountain. It was a generic one that came with the program and I just colored it white for snow. The program also comes with special atmosphere FX that let you customize the clouds and the sun a little bit. You can click here and see what the interface looks like though: http://www.macplus.org/magplus/IMG/jpg/doc-1609.jpg

If I'm reading that pic correctly, it says there are over 500, 000 polygons. Damn that's a lot. Also, I see water I think. Did you ever get the chance to render the entire scape with a more distant camera angle?

Not that particular one but I've done a few practice ones at different distances rendered at "Preview" resolutions. It does allow a quick way to add a water plane if you want to back up and use it as an island.

 It's snow covered.

I also wanted it to look a little like the snow was drifting a little bit in the wind wich would contribute to that smooth look. I used the Wind Filter and that faded it a bit to make the snow drift really subtle.
