After being a big fan of comic's it was obvious i was going to go and see this movie.
Note: This movie is based off the
MARVEL COMIC
For people who don't know much About DareDevil or the comic
For those that don't know, Daredevil isn't the most popular super hero to the likes of batman, superman, spiderman, or the hulk. But alot of comic fan's know who he is. As for the storyline it is about Matt Murdock a kid who get's blinded by toxic waste to his eye's. And his other sense's become super human, those being: sound, touch, smell. This allows him to see sort-of like a bat and now sound gives off a 3d radar 3rd sight to him. So he can do stuff like tell if your lying by the beat of your heart. This also allows him to become very agile and an extremely good fighter.(Kind of like those people who train blind in martial art's except his other senses are super heightened). He also carry's a billy club which can be used as a grappling hook batman style.
The bad:
The movie was alot better then i had expected it to be for a movie based on daredevil and i had problems with the casting. I wasn't so much that Ben Affleck didn't look like Matt Murdock(though he does alot), it was the fact it was him. And a sort of cheesey feeling about some of his past movies but he did this well. As for the other thing which was Michael Clark Duncan(The Huge Guy from the Big Green Mile)who plays the Kingpin, Is this which is for those of you who know from the comic and don't, the kingpin is this immensly huge fat guy that actually has muscle to go along with it which makes him a pain in the ass to fight. Michael seemed to buff and not fat enough. He did seem big but not like a fatty. I think you understand but he still did a good job playing the Kingpin and looks simular enough to him that he can pull it off. I think alot of people were skeptical because in the comic's kingpin is obviously white and they made him black in the movie(which shouldn't matter). The last thing that surprised me was Bullseye, who's powers are that he can throw any object EXTREMELY well. They totally changed his outfit to some leathering and a engraved bullseye target on to the skin of his actual forehead. When first seeing the original press release pictures it seemed cheesey and still does look like that. His outfit in the comic is entirely black with white gloves and boots and a bullseye on his head. I can see how this wouldn't work in a movie. And was cheesey but fit the character somewhat well.
Things in the comic missing in the movie, or done differently:
Where the hell is stick his trainer from the comic?
Uh, Daredevil doesn't usually kill people he makes sure they go to jail and killed people in the movie.
The good:
The movie was alot better then i had obviously originally expected it to be. The Dark over tones and other important things were kept in the movie and it kept the same feel the comic does. Alot of scenes were too dark and made it hard to see even though this could just be my retarded theatre messing the film up but oh well. The fight scenes in this movie are alot more easily implemented then spiderman and there is alot less CG since Daredevil doesn't do more absurdly hard things like sticking to walls and swinging constantly like spider-man. His Radar vision was done very well and the movie almost put you in his hearing perspective with doing some backdrops of what it is like to hear like he does and all that etc. The story is there and done properly and is predictable if you have read the comic but more entertaining to those who don't know what is going to happen but some "i figured they'd do that" parts may exsist for people who don't have high interest in the comic. The movie played out well and i think they implemented the feel of what being daredevil is like and what the comic about is pretty well though some continuity(sp?) issues arise. And of course they left it open to a sequel!
As for the fight scenes they were done very martial art's like and in style of matrix but not over done. You would only see bullet time when something related to his powers or very big happend. Unlike those thinking of it being a matrix-fest, which is what were waiting for to come out soon

.
My Score
4/5, Great for those who liked the comic and already know and should understand some things will be changed, and a decent comedy movie for people who find super-heroish films entertaining but aren't hardcore into comics.
