Bored w/ Modern Gaming

I dunno what it is but I'm starting to notice a really bad trend in me. Modern/ Current Generation Games for the most part bore me. Aside from sports games, and the occasional bit of DOA3 & Halo (when friends come over) I hardly ever play games on my Xbox anymore. I haven't touched the GC in over a month and I use the PS2 for PSX games!

Yet I've now spent 20 hrs in the last week playing "Tactics Ogre: Knight of Lodis" on my GBA. and before that I had played over 20 hrs on Golden Sun (GBA) and Adance Wars (GBA).

Whenever I play my Dreamcast it's always a 2D fighting game. Although I think that most Current generation games are very pretty, gameplay wise they don't have enough to keep me interested in them for long. It just seems like I'd rather play Mike Tysons Punch Out, which I did the other night and had a blast, than Splinter Cell, which I haven't play much off even though I got it when it came out back last fall.

Anybody else feel like me or am I just an old school gamer falling out of touch with the current generation? :(

I kind of agree with that though I still enjoy good FPS like Halo or Splinter Cell. I soppose where I mostly agree with you is the Mortal Kombat franchise. The new 3D version is terrible.

no game has captured my attention as much as the Final Fantasy Series (especially VII) the Sonic series, and teh Streets of Rage Series (save for streets of rage 3, that game was a bust)

Well, the only games that I have really loved and would call an epic game for XBox have been: DOA3, Morrowind, and Halo. I play UC all the time, MA, and GR but those are nothing new, and that is just online play.

I think I got about 20 superb and epic games out of my Dreamcast, which lasted only but a core of 2 years or so.
*sigh* I think it is time to bust out the DC again :D

I do agree with you on the modern games fact, I mean just can't "get into" games as easy as I could several years ago. I could probably play almost any game on the DC, Saturn, SNES, or even PSX and have a blast for atleast an hour on the crappiest game. I got more enjoyment on Mad Max for Saturn than I did for Metroid Prime. I won't even go into how shitty Sunshine was, and many a XBox game  I think they are putting too much into graphics (although I am a graphics whore) rather than the overall gameplay and fun appeal. My opinion :p
