Big Boss Man

The Atlanta TV Station WSB-TV reported today that Ray Traylor's cause of death was a "massive heart attack."

Traylor passed away last night at his home in Paulding County, Georgia.

WWE issued the following today:

World Wrestling Entertainment is saddened by the loss of Ray Traylor, professionally known as the Big Boss Man. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends.

Inside the wrestling ring, Boss Man was one of the most feared and respected Superstars of his time. Outside the ring, however, Traylor was a kind, gentle, charitable, compassionate family man. While his WWE persona was known for antagonizing others, the real Traylor stopped at nothing to put smiles on the faces of the children he would meet.

Traylor began wrestling in 1984. While serving as a prison guard in Cobb County, Georgia, Traylor caught the attention of a local Atlanta wrestling booker. After months of learning the ropes and paying his dues, Traylor was re-christened Big Bubba Rogers. Not long after, Big Bubba Rogers was in main events all over the country, serving as Jim Cornette’s bodyguard.

A few years later, Traylor traveled to Stamford, Connecticut, to meet with Vince McMahon. Shortly thereafter, the Big Boss Man was created.

As a member of WWE, Big Boss Man rapidly moved up the ranks to main event status. It was as the Boss Man in WWE that Traylor enjoyed his greatest success, facing off against many huge names – Hulk Hogan, Randy Savage and Andre the Giant.

Ray's spirit and warm nature will never be forgotten.

Re: Big Boss Man

Damn, what a loss. I remember whn he fought the Undertaker in a steel gage. And afterwards, the Ministry tied a noose around him, and hung him from the gage. Remember that???

Anyway, this suprises me, especially since he had lost all that weight from when he first started wrestling.

Re: Big Boss Man

How old was he btw? to be perfectly honest I enjoyed Big Boss Man not on the tv, but on the WWF arcade machine that was so popular back in the very early ninethies, I would always pick him and the Ultimate Warrior on tag team match ups, and make it all the way to the end of the tournament, that was a great arcade game, that is hard to find around nowadays, anyhoo that is Sad that Ray Traylor's is dead, he was a good wrestler.

Re: Big Boss Man

BTW Luff that "chic" (I'm sure she means a lot more than a chic to you ) image you got underneath your name is trippy , I like how she buzzs and vibrates like that ;)

Re: Big Boss Man

Well that teaches you something, doesn't it? If you take steroids your gonna croak earlier than normal. DUH DURR!!!!!

Re: Big Boss Man

Yeah, Whatever happened to the Ultimate Warrior. He was a freaking nut, he would come to the ring, and start shaking the hello out the ropes, and jumping around, he was high on SOMETHING....

Re: Big Boss Man

HEY! HEY! HEY! MISTER! THAT'S MY FAVORITE WRESTLER YOUR TALKING ABOUT THERE! YOU SHADDAPA YOUR FACE!

Re: Big Boss Man

In Middle school, we used to say that he died in a steroid overdose, after he mysteriously disappeared from both WWE and WCW....

I also found it quite funny that in 1995, when WCW was re-enacting the whole Hogan/warrior feud, that they obviously hired a look alike to play him. I think his name was the Renegade, or something.

Remember when Hogan and Warrior fought, title vs, title? It was a close match, and both were equally matched. But Warrio ended up kicking Hogan, who at the time I was a fan of, arse.
I hated it when Hogan turned Heel in WCW, those were his worst matches. I loved how when he left WWE in 1993, they wanted him to hand over the title to Hitman Hart....

Re: Big Boss Man

When hogan lost to ulimate warrior, I stopped watching wrestling all togther.
The Doink the Clown era was just silly.

Re: Big Boss Man

To me, the era that I grew up watching has never been re-created. Sure Stone Cold has created a lot of found memories, but since he unceremonesly walked out of the wwe, and then returned to Raw, he hasn't been the same....

Plus, I didn't know that Miss Elizabeth, formely Savage's manager, and Mr. Perfect, Kurt Henning, had passed. And from drug related crap, too. I distinctly remember one of them, or both, doing several promos to kids about not doing drugs, and now this. Kinda makes you wonder. And had no idea that Henning and Lesnar were fired because of," an altercation on a plane."

Re: Big Boss Man

Wrestlemania 3 was the best. I think I'll try and find that at a video store somewhere.

Re: Big Boss Man

They released a whole crap load of the old Wrestlemanias on dvd, awhile back.
Wrestlemania 3, was Hogan and Mister T vs. Roody Piper and someone else, in a boxing match, right? I vaguely recall.....
