Apocalyptica: Reflections

Managed to acquire the new Apocalyptica album Reflections. This one has some excellent music and is a really good follow up album to CULT. The group is very good at walking the line between Metal and Classical music.

I'd say that this album's sound isn't quite as heavy as the previous one CULT, but I do think it's more refined and has improved in a few areas. The music is more original and they have moved away from being a Metallica cover band. They have also grown beyond just being a cello quartet by adding more instruments like drums, violins, and piano.

I like the whole album so far but I'd say my favorite tracks are Far Away, Somewhere Around Nothing, Conclusion, and Epilogue. These songs are really strong on that rich acoustic string/bow sound I like.

Unfortunately this isn't released in the U.S. yet. However I took a recommendation and purchased it through Amazon-Canada. It was actually reasonable near normal CD prices and I dodged the outrageaus import price.

What type of music do they play???

Heavy Metal Symphony. They started out as a Cello Quartet doing covers of Metallica songs.

Think something along the lines of that Metallica S&M project with Michael Kamen except I think Apocalyptica is even better. The Apocalyptica cover of Nothing Else Matters is excellent.

The Reflections album is a little less heavy then the CULT album but it's still great work.

Ok thats it! I'm going to check out some of these bands Vid posts, he has posted about them many times and I have always said... "Vid seems like a well rounded guy who seems to have a good taste in films... so the music he listens to has to be good, right? Why not check it out?" But I never have... NOW I AM GOING TO! Give you my thoughts in a bit. Don't let me down vid! *shakes fist*

He was drunk that's why he was so nice. It was a momentary laspe in judgement, forgive him.
