Ape Escape 2 Review
As soon as I heard that Ape Escape 2 was in the making I screamed like a little school girl. Okay maybe I didnt quite do that but I was still pretty happy about it. I still remember all the fun I had with the first Ape Escape. What with the abuse you can inflict with the stun saber when you finally catch up to the little bastards its quite fufilling. Well now on to the review.
Plot 5/10 Well the plot here is pretty simple. Max (the hero) is supposed to send the monkeys of the world (who all happen to be trapped neatly on an island for the first game) some new pants. Well being quite the little retard he is he sends along the hats that made all the monkeys bad in the first place. Well after you see the monkies marching around a little the Spectre (OH NOHSS EVAL MAN MONKEY) appears blah blah blah monkies take over the world blah blah blah Well stop you. You get the drift. Not very innovative but it gets the job done.
Graphics 10/10 The graphics are excellent. Nice and cartoony which I feel fits the game well. The backgrounds are beautiful along with the locations that you go to to catch those bad lil monkies. The monkies themselves look the same. Brown furry with s illy hat one. Well I guess they didnt want to mess with a formula that worked. I was expecting something new but alas nothing for monkey visuals changed.
Controls 10/10 The controls are very easy to use and mostly depend on the analog sticks for action. You use the left stick to move around and the right to use your gadget that you have selected. Of course you have to do different things to work different gadgets. For instance For the Stun Saber (Monkey Beater) you swing the stick in the direction you would have Max swing it. but for the speed hoop you have to keep rotating it while you run. The four buttons switch between the gadgets you have selected so you can switch out in a snap. It makes catching monkies a hell of a lot quicker so  yay
Music/sound 10/10 I will have to admit that AE2 has some pretty lively tunes. The music just makes you want to beat them apes to death with a Stun Saber! The sound effects are pretty funny. The monkies screaming just give me such a satisfaction that it could be counted as a sick pleasure. but really The sound effects are good and fit whatever stage your in. If your at the casino you will hear slot machines. Go to the beach you can listen to the relaxing waves. Dont get too relaxed though, monkies dont catch themselves.
Fun Factor 10/10 What makes this game so great is that its easy to pick up on and fun. You have a nice aray of gadgets at your disposal and many monkies to use them on (over 300) So you will be busy for a bit. Well actually thats where the game lacks. See the game is well short. and the only reason i didnt deduct points is that you can onlock some rather fun and addicting minigames. Like MONKEY SOCCER (Silly monkeys playing sports) its a challenge at first but soon you will get used to it and boy is it fun. w00t hooray for monkey soccer
Overall 9/10 If it wasnt for a retarded plot this game would have maybe gotten a perfect. Man I really wanted to give one out too. That would be like crazy go nuts awesomeness. Anyway considering its a 9 that means it way above average and you should buy it now. You know you want to beat the monkeys with a stun saber
