please don't embed images off my site

Hello. This is a simple note asking you not to embed images off my site. You'll notice that the original shtml page which that image was posted on had a disclaimer at the top asking you link to the shtml instead of the image directly. When you embed my image in your web board, you're just taking my bandwidth without generating additional traffic to my site, bandwidth I am paying for. When one person does this, other people see it and do the same thing, without even getting to read the disclaimer asking you not to embed the image in another site. Then next thing you know I am pumping out gigabytes of additional bandwidth every day for a single image that isn't even traffic for my website. If you want to embed the image in another site, please at least ask first, and place a link back to the site or at least the gallery which you got it from.

This is totally understandable. No hard feelings. (and thanks for joining our forums)

I hate sounding like a dick about stuff like this, but I end up spending many gigabytes of bandwidth a week on other people embedding my images on their sites. recently I started going to the ones that allowed public posting (even registering) trying to let people know. I think I'd be less irritated about it if folks at least linked back to the gallery they got the images from, but they never do that.

except for two things:

1) this breaks the site in some crappy browsers (sigh - why can't folks just upgrade)

2) there are some people embedding images off my site that I've said it was okay to do so... I mostly want the courtesy of people asking permission or linking back to the site when they do it. (that way it will at least generate the same amount of traffic that linking to the shtml would have generated, if you see what I'm saying)
