I feel the sentiment. I'd call it a "ball of fun" and "very addictive" as I like my football to be as close to real football as possible. But for an arcade football game nothing tops the fun of Tecmo Super Bowl.
I play it every so often on NESterDC, an NES emulator for the Dreamcast. I probably play a hacked version more often called Tecmo Rose bowl in which all the teams and players are from college football in 1997.
tecmo super bowl and nfl2k are the only football games i ever liked, i remember playing tsb in my house with some friends for hours, we would make tournaments and all, those were the good times
it was the same with super tennis and international super star soccer
