quick question for the smarties

Say someone has about 500 for a video card (9600XT), processor and board. Say they also want to game.

Intel or AMD?

Ok... lets put it like this...

If AMD is a Ferrari, then Intel is an old, wet depends that came off an old woman that smells like something my dog dug up in the back yard, humped a couple times, then fed to vicman's mom and got regugatated with a bunch of road kill and small children.

So get an INTEL!

Heh alright so 2 for intel (1 at MG and robbyp)
4 for AMD (santraio, shane, you 2)

I have an AMD I am happy with. Just wasn't sure which I could get better with for 500.

Ok then should I get this board? Or is there a better?

Then I still have a processor to decide on but the kid left.

total if I get that is $323. So I have like $177 for a processor. Or a little more if needed.

Will that card work with that board and everything too? I am clueless with this stuff.

oh and does anyone know where I can get a cool case? Like this http://www.newegg.com/app/viewProductDesc.asp?DEPA=0&sumit=Go&description=11-144-026&searchdepa=0

heh I just basically like the lights. That can like support the pc power wise and space and everything?

Well Maggot, your MOBO depends on what processor you have. I'm pretty sure that SOYO one is AMD only, unless they have an Intel version too that I don't know about. I have gotten a lot of opinions that say to go with the Asus nForce2 Ultra 400 instead of the KT600 Dragon Ultra whatever whatever.. They both come with onboard sound I believe so no need for a sound card  and for $177 you can get a very good processor. And since the quality seems the same for both companies, might as well go with AMD since they are a little cheaper. I am getting the AMD Athlon XP 2800+ "Barton", 333MHz FSB, 512K Cache Processor for $136 which is 2.02ghz I think.

My new computer is complete except I can't decide on a case  That Aspire case you showed is the one I was looking at, but I was going to add 2 more fans in the rear seeing that it only has 2. The design on that case is great, but the powersupply seems a little low for high performance, I want atleast 400watt. The one Batman just said is what I might end up going with seeing that it has a great powersupply and lots o' fans :D

Dude I'm not adding to it. I declined it. Don't need a new pc it's just it was free. I got a new one like a month ago. 9800XT and Athlon 64. I'm fine for now with that, my 9800 pro one, and my laptop.

oh and :p again to you being over your limit. I also know my mobo depends on the processor it's just the ram depended on the mobo too so that put me over in price. I spent the cash I had towards tickets to go to CA for Christmas. Hell maybe I'll see lbg. As for cases I didn't look at newegg or any online place. I just went to a local shop, made them make one look cool, and then stuck shit in it. Only cost like $70 total.

oh and Jimmy Hoffa :scrump:

scrump ?
