how much does router quality affect the speed of your connection?
ok, so i used to have a linksys befsr41 version 2 ethernet router. but it got fried in this huge storm we had the other day i think, because now it doesnt work and it's all hooked up right :thehell:
anyway, with this router i have been plagued with problems since i got it. the internet on the downstairs PC goes really slow for broadband (which i blamed on its crappy specs), my computer upstairs went pretty slow for broadband (only slightly faster than the other PC, and i blamed it on my crappy specs), i cant play GR at all on xbox live, etc. i wasnt sure how many of these problems could be blamed on the router, or firewall, etc.
well, right now im direct connecting on the downstairs computer and the speed is a huge increase in comparison to what it is with the router. and basically im just wondering if there's a router out there, relatively low priced (under 100) that would deliver a lot better performance than the linksys i have now and would do a better job of routing a fast connection. i want to know if i can pay more and get better speeds from my new router.
