Favorite Old TV Shows
What's your favorite old TV shows? And do you watch any of them on sydication?
My favs are Sanford and Son, The Cosby Show, Good Times, Magnum P.I., Alf, and a bunch of others I haven't seen in a long ass time. Luckily TV Land shows Sanford and Son nightly and Nick At Night shows The Cosby Show. Sometimes I'll catch a glimpse of Magnum P.I. from time to time and I used to watch Alf a few years ago but have lost track of what station it's on syndication now.
Growing up in the 80s and not having cable we got the regular broadcast channels on bunny ears attenna. So we got to see alot of old 70s shows on syndication since nothing else was on. Shit like All in the Family, Mash, and all sorts of 70s black sitcoms were what me and my siblings watched on TV. So while everyone else was all hip with their MTV and shit we got our cultural assimilation through old TV. It was through that that I got interested in the inner-city black culture of the 70s & 80s, which was alot different than the crap you see today.
Anyone remember "Que Pasa USA"? A 70s spanglish show about the Cuban-American experience in Miami? Probably not but that shit hit home with my extended family.
Shit anyone remember 3-2-1 Contact on PBS that old ass science/technology show for kids? How about Reading Rainbow in the 80s? LMFAO!
I've watched a lot of TV in my life and while that might sound wastefull to some it has really given me an understanding/insight into American culture and the evolution of American sensibilities throughout the years. It also created bonds with my family though watching things they grew up on during the 60s. Coming home afterschool to watch Woody Woodpecker & Tom and Jerry with my Dad, play Atari, and then go to the park to play sports were real bonding experiences w/ family and friends...
Anyways I'm getting all nostalgic and rambling, why don't you fools share some of your favorite old TV shows and experiences.
