I just rented this game....all I can say is WTF?!?! In my opinion, this game is a piece of $#!T. All you do is press the A button, your character is automatically positioned to where the ball is going to land.

And eye candy? Sure, there's a lot of T and A, but the graphics aren't that much better than DOA3.

2/10 (2 because there a 2 boobies per character.)
 
Here's what happens. You basically have to buy things (like glasses, flowers etc) and offer them to the other characers in order to gain their friendship sort of. But regardless, it might take several of tries, evern days before they agree to become your partner (which is nessesary if you want to play volleyball)

Here's the dumb part. I was able to play 2 full games before the game ended. THAT'S RIGHT...the game ended before I even got the chance to do very much. The game consists of days. Enter a local, 3 times and you 've used up one full day. So, I forget how many days I used up, but the game ends after a set number of days. WTF!!! This isn't a game. It's a frigg'n tech demo. This should have been downloadable or a booster disc.

Who knows, I've been reading reviews that give the game props. Since I preordered it, I'll be picking it up tomorrow. I'll give you guys what I think about it once I give it a good run through. Maybe even write review of the game.

lol..I'm getting killed over at Team "fanboy " Xbox. Seems as though people actually like a shopping game with some emphasis on EXTREMELY simplified volleyball. (with a lack of actual volleyball rules btw.)

If you like it, fine. Just a reminder, the game costs the same as most new Xbox games.
 
Alright...sorry to keep bumping this thread but I need to explain myself.

I don't go all out and say a game sucks and give no reasons for my comments.

Many will find DOAX "entertaining," be it the stripped down volleyball, the shopping, the gambling or T and D. But to me, I don't think this game is good enough to warrent a sale. It doesn't even have 4 player feature for god's sakes. The title of the game has Volleyball in it, but volleyball is secondary in this game, and it's not very good. If Vollyball was such a huge phenomenon in the videogame industry, people would have bought GCs by the millions just for Beach Spikers. That game for a fact, is a true volleyball game.


The thing about this game is that there is no beginning or end. It's a loop. The whole point is to collect. |Volleyball is a way to earn money. So if that's what you're looking for...run out and fork over $60.



btw, graphics are good. But unlike DOA3, there isn't much to see. Same animations over and over again. Enviroments are nicely lit and detailed, but nothing ground breaking. PDO totally destroys this game in terms of visuals.

The only thing I liked was that you can use custom soundtracks.
 
So it's really just a tedious shopping/roleplaying game that you only play to earn more eye candy?
 
I've played about 3 hours of it and I enjoying the game. It was never ment to be more than a "fun" game. The casino is addictive and fun, the volleyball is enjoyable, and collecting stuff is cool. I never expected a great volleyball game or anything. I expected what I got: a fun game that's relaxing and easy to get into. My girlfriend and I have enjoyed playing against each other, betting in the casino, and finding all the crazy bikinis.

Nothing I saw in previews or press releases has led me to believe this game was anything else. 8/10 so far for me. :)

I have to say, this game looks as technically sound as Omega Race.


If you want a hilarious view on this game and it's ilk, find the Daily Show Archives of Lewis Black (Back in Black is the segment title, approx. 2 months ago) talking about sex in video games! My lord, did I laugh, I'll I can remember is, "You don't even need to play volleyball, and YOU HAVE ALREADY WON!!"

Ok lemme follow up my ealier impressions.

I've spent the last half week playing this game lemme tell you it's VERY addictive!
I'm buying bikinis, hats, shoes, even friggen volleyballs that match w/ me and my partner's dress style.
On top of that I'm getting to the point that all I wanna do is play volleyball in the sun. Casino? Screw that, let's slam the ball into Christie's face (that bitch) or block Ayane's week ass spikes (what a slut).
Shoot I even quit my partnership with Lisa due to her arrogance at throwing my expensive bikini that I sent as a gift in the trash! (what a dirty whore) and we would've looked so good with matching light bluecut off shorts and fushia low cut tops!

I give this game a 8.9/10 for pure fun and enjoyment!
Definately rent it! But only on the condition that you understand and enjoy what it is: A fun romp with cute polygonal girls :scrump:

Everything is in Japanese w/ subtitles except the intro and ending sequences, and Zack's voice (Dennis Rodman) which you can select to be English or Japanese. Mind you it didn't bother me a bit as I prefer the cute japanese voices of Kasumi, Hitomi, Lei, etc. English voice actors would have ruined it IMHO ala alot of animes that are brought over to NA.
