Do you own a Dreamcast?

...and if so, just what was it about the Dreamcast the made you buy it?

For me it was seeing NFL 2K for the first time. Let alone the modem, VMU, and the fact that Sega brought out a new console. The jump from PSX/N64 to DC graphics really was jaw dropping. I remember ppl thinking the video game stores around the country were broadcasting live NFL games untill they saw ppl playing the damned game!

It's still amazing to see Soul Calibur, a DC launch title mind you, in motion. That game along w/ Sonic Adventure, Power Stone, NFL 2K, and a host of others were really worth buying a DC right away. To this day I still play my Dreamcast as much as my Xbox, PS2, & GC. Too many great games that I love.

I have a lot of games, but my DC is busted. I hollowed it out and now use the shell as a piggy bank.

Rented the Japanese version before the American launched and played VF3 to death. Was blown away at the graphics....even Pen Pen Tricealon (spelling) looked better than anything out there at the moment.

Games I bought at launch were, SC (Still can't believe that I never heard about this game until a few days before launch) Ready to Rumble boxing, Tokyo Extreme Racer (60fps..joy) Sonic Adventures.

What was strange was that VF3, wasn't a launch game.
 
I wanted it but short on cash...
I wanted it because it was new and had online capabilities...

We got ours because it was time to step up from our N64 and, even then our sony grudge kept us from waiting a bit longer for the ps2, We have had our's since launch and its cool, wish we could have used the online function though.
 
70$ and you have yourself a deal, 100$ and you get all my games, memory cards, controlers (I think 4 I'll have to check) and all the other crap I got with it.

(I still have the box and everything for the system.)

vicman, that deal's not for a new system right?

i know a while back they had them new packaged with 3 games for 40 bucks i think at toys r us. it was crazy. that was around the time the xbox launched i believe.
 
Yeah it's for a refurbished system, but nontheless that's CHEAP! It's hard to find a NEW DC nowadays, let alone one for a decent price. EBGames will give you a warranty on it though.

I have owned a DC since they debuted. My only gripe with the console:

They were know for being very problematic, Mostly, for having crappy lasers which needed constant tweking and adjusting.
They were also know to have two problems with the PSU:
Constant resetting during games, and the famous not powering up.

Other than that, I loved this console, and failed to see why it died so quickly.
